Mining products from Madagascar are highly valued and appreciated by German professionals in particular. This is the positive and encouraging remark reported by the 4 Malagasy operators who exhibited at the 44th MINERALIS Minerals, Fossils and Jewellery Fair in Berlin from 23 to 25 November, an essential place where stone enthusiasts, scientists, collectors, amateurs and professional mineralogists meet.
Madagascar’s participation in these annual international fairs not only in Berlin every November, but also in Munich every October, is a real opportunity to showcase the mining products finely worked by Malagasy craftsmen and to negotiate directly with professionals in commercial partnerships.
As a reminder, the Malagasy mining sector accounts for 40% of foreign direct investment and 30% of export earnings in 2016. In Madagascar, artisanal mining contributes to the creation of about 500,000 full-time jobs and up to 1,000,000 seasonal workers.
